ABOUT OUR VETERANS PROGRAM

Samaritan Daytop Village is nationally recognized for its work with military veterans and provides comprehensive services for today's returning male and female service members. A pioneer in veteran-specific treatment for more than 30 years, we currently administer three residential treatment facilities exclusively for veterans struggling with chemical dependency, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other life challenges.

  • Services include:
    • Individual and Group Addiction Counseling
    • Evidence-Based Treatment (including Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Seeking Safety, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy)
    • Medication-Assisted Therapy
    • Health and Mental Health Care
    • Education and Employment Services
    • Housing Referral Assistance
    • Benefits Counseling
    • Family Counseling by Referral
    • Recovery Skills Development
    • Recreational Activities

Our treatment services for veterans are grounded in principles of trauma-informed care that reflect our understanding of the prevalence of trauma and its profound impact on all spheres of human functioning. Our treatment philosophy emphasizes safety, respect, empowerment, personal integrity, and the healing power of relationships within a community of veterans in recovery.

Through its Veterans Services Programs, Samaritan Daytop Village administers three treatment facilities exclusively for veterans:

  • 43rd Street Veterans Program - Our 48-bed flagship treatment facility in Manhattan provides unmatched treatment for addiction and post-traumatic stress disorders for male veterans.
  • Ed Thompson Veterans Program - Samaritan Daytop Village responded to the need for expanded services for veterans by opening this 50-bed facility for male veterans in 2006 in Richmond Hill, Queens.
  • Women Veterans Program - New York State's first residential treatment program dedicated to female veterans is located on the campus of our Ellenville location in upstate New York. It offers gender-specific treatment in a safe and encouraging environment for women veterans.

Please support our efforts to serve all who come to our doors facing life-altering challenges during this difficult time. Your help is urgently needed.
